Review of Amadeus (1984) by Niels T — 27 Oct 2012
Think of a movie that is about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. You'd either think of a movie that is about a small, lovely, prodigy and how he got through life while enduring his talent, succes, failures et cetera.
This would be a movie called Wolfgang. Or you'd think of a movie about him and his music, his opera's, and his influences. That would be a movie called Mozart. Now, this is a movie that is none of them, and both of them.
We move to the middle of them: Amadeus, and explore everything around it, and conclude that it needs three things: Romance, vengeance, and wigs. Ta-daa: Amadeus. That was the musical. The film actually needed five things: beside these three it needed two more.
And that were F. Murray Abraham and Tom Hulce. I don't know if it was luck that these two perfect fits were casted, but if it was, than God loved Forman hearts more than Salieri.
