For me Amadeus is like Downfall(2004), a film that I can neither love nor hate. Whenever the film focuses on music and opera, it's extremely involving and entertaining, but when the film focuses on Mozart's personal life, it can be dull to the very core and it does that far too often than required. Who would have imagined that the great composer's life would have been so dull. Milos Forman directs with sublime skill and the makeup is fantastic and acting of Tom Hulce and F Murray Abraham especially the former is extraordinary.
