Review of Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel (2009) by James O — 03 May 2012
After taking in the somewhat forgettable first installment, I was mildly intrigued to see where this aptly named "squeakquel" would go. This wasn't just forgettable, it was painful to watch and borderline on awful. I saw right through the effects, the story was very juvenile, and the "drama" was headbangingly awful. Set in a high school, the film probably drives high schoolers away, and felt like your standard kiddie flick. The actors did the best with what they were given, but this chipmunk outing just did not impress me on any levels whatsoever.
Verdict: It's watchable.....only if Joel Hodgson and two robots provide a running commentary.
