Review of Alvin and the Chipmunks (2007) by Loretta S — 04 Apr 2012
Alvin & The Chipmunks.
Yeah, this movie was far from the best I have seen and it was far from great even. Still, I enjoyed it though. So, let's get to it, shall we?
Let's start with the basics, ok? The script was not better than average. Still, it had some funny moments and comments, if you can call it that. So, it wasn't all bad. Ok, the lighting, special effects and all that was good. So, that's a plus in the book.
Alright, let's move on to the acting. The acting was better than mediocre, better than average, even better than good, but I didn't expect anything less when you've got Jane Lynch, David Cross not to mention Jason Lee.
The choreography was not the best either, but it worked pretty well, I must say.
Ok, now for the big one. The music! I am not, nor have I ever been and I most certainly will not become a big fan of that chipmunk music. Yet I did like that Hula-hoop song. The rest of the music was good too, but it is just not my style, but all in all it was good.
So, let us go over this one more time. The basics was good, the acting was great, the choreography was good (even though it could have been better) and the music was good, good, good. The movie had some good moments, funny moments and some nice music. It had love in it and it had contrasts in the good person (being Dave) and the bad person (being Ian) and The poor and hard-working songwriter versus the rich filthy and bald creep of a record producer. Technically those are the same, but I just wanted to make it clear.
So, let's finish this review. This movie is good and it was worth watching, barely, but still it was not a total waste of my time. It made me laugh a couple of times and the moral of the story was nice. the moral being: "If you have an open heart you don't need anything else, because it will come to you, just take the time and be patient". You know, it is something like that, I think. I have never been good finding morals in movies or books, so, I might be wrong, there might be more than one moral and off course, it is that small chance that I might actually be right.
So, after seeing this movie again (Yes, I have seen it before, but with my goldfish-like memory, I didn't remember anything, except the title) I quickly found out that it did not deserve 10 stars. It did not deserve 9 stars, or 8 or 7, but I concluded with that it deserved 3,4 or 5 stars. Since I couldn't decide, I sat down and started thinking about the pros and the cons, and I ended up with the conclusion that it deserved nothing more or nothing less than 4 stars.
So, It gets 4/10 stars from me, and I will not recommend this movie and if I am able to, I will avoid watching it again, once is definitely enough.
That is all from Norway's Shevy for this time.
Have a great easter, enjoy yourself, each other, the tweeting birds and the singing chipmunks.
Be safe.
God Bless all of you.
Peace & Love.
Yours truly.
