Review of Alvin and the Chipmunks (2007) by Damian B — 25 Dec 2012
At first, I thought this will be another make-me-some-money Hollywood remake. I was pleasantly surprised. The characters were properly fleshed out, the story was good and the music was great. The long time fans were introduced to some changes to the original story but the changes were for the better.
They transformed the whole thing into a deeper and slightly more mature experience making the movie adequate also to some older audiences. While the new generation can enjoy a well put together story, the hardcore fans also get the small touches of nostalgia like the chipmunk christmas song (Christmas, Don't Be Late) and Witch Doctor (both songs were also featured in both new and classic versions in the OST) Could it have been done better? Yes, it could, but it still is a well-made flick for hardcore chipmunk fans and the new generation.
