Review of Altered States (1980) by Ian B — 16 Jul 2006
A surreal and bizarre sci-fi film by Ken Russell in which a brilliant college professor uses altered states of consciousness in his search for the ultimate truth--and to his horror and fascination begins to regress toward an earlier evolutionary state.
Excellent performances by Blair Brown, William Hurt, Bob Balaban, and Charles Haid as well an impressive screenplay based on the novel by Paddy Chayefsky.
