Review of Altered States (1980) by Marios P — 20 Oct 2011
If not the best, one of the best films ever made.
Apart from the astonishing performance of the actors, which is typical for a movie this good, the film manages to explore the inner self and our hidden primitive state, which exists in every person but only a few let it out.
Furthermore, talking about the inner journey would never be so original and vivid, without the special effects, which gave the audience a piece of the action and of course influenced them to start working with themselves.
Especially the scene with the goat and crucifixion was the best and also the scene, when the scientist saw hell, were the most brilliant, because they managed to show where the quest for truth which we can't handle would lead.
