Review of Alphaville (1965) by Manny C — 13 Aug 2008
Godard deconstructs the "série B" Lemmy Caution character by sending him to a futuristic town named Alphaville where certain words ("love" being one of them) have lost their meaning.
The result is a weird, stylistically offbeat piece of 60's pop art with achingly beautiful shots of the director's then-wife, Anna Karina.
