Review of Alphaville (1965) by Alex S — 12 Sep 2010
Alphaville is the name of a town, where all of the inhabitants thoughts, actions, and lives are controlled by a supercomputer called Alpha60. Agent Caution is sent from the "Outlands" to destroy Alpha60, and prevent the computer from taking over the rest of the galaxy.
Along the way he learns about how the computer erases "illogical" words and thoughts, and "re-educates" or "eliminates" any non-conformists. A bit Orwellian, and an excellent film for the time period.
Why do they always re-make crappy films, while true classics like these sit gathering dust for 50 years?
