Review of Alphaville (1965) by Alaine B — 09 Jul 2010
From 1965, France. This is a hard one to describe. Search for interpretations if you want. It was different, but had some familiar ideas in it, such as man vs. the machine. Scifi, spoof, philosophical, absurd, Orwellian.
The music early on hits you over the head with drama and tension when there is none. That was my clue that I wasn't watching an ordinary film. Sometimes hard to follow, definitely thought-provoking if you can stay with it to the end.
