Review of Alpha Dog (2006) by Jim M — 20 Jun 2010
Based on the real life kidnapping and murder of a 15 year old boy (Anton Yelchin) in Claremont, California about 10 years ago, by a group of suburban drug dealers played by Emile Hirsch, Justin Timberlake and Shawn Hatosy because of a debt owed them by the kids half-brother Ben Foster.
A good film that depicts the wannabe suburban gangsters as ether morally weak or shit stupid. Pretty much everyone in this movie is depicted as complacent, or in some way responsable for the kids death. The only exceptions to this are Sharon Stone as his mother, not a fan but she was pretty good here, going crazy over her sons abduction and a girl named Susan (played by Dominique Swan) who hangs out with the gang and freaks out when she learns the truth, sadly when she turns to her mother for help her mother high on Ecstasy and pissed that her daughter interupts her anniversary "celebration"(IMHO Swan shoulda recevied an honory mention at the Oscars or something for that scene alone).
Not what you'd expect, but defeinitly worth watching.
UPDATE.
One sentence summery: What happens when niavete and innocence meets moral degeneracy.
