Review of Alpha Dog (2006) by Nate G — 12 Apr 2012
This movie is a great example of how a "based on a true story" film should be made. It had a well-rounded cast, realistic situations, great dialogs that actually mean something to the story and the viewer and it isn't flashing around to everyone who's even heard of it "Based on a true story!".
This movie was definitely a hit with me, I thought that the story was great, and that the director was pretty in-your-face with the message that he wanted to send, without wearing it ragged. Dialog was all impressive, the characters spoke real english and not screen-write. It served as an effective vessel not only for writer and directors message but for you as the viewer to know the characters as real people which is important to the quality of this movie. The acting was quality all around (yes that does include justin timberlake) and the story was extremely moving because you really care about the characters, even the bad guys.
