Review of Alpha Dog (2006) by Monty H — 11 Dec 2012
Whoa. This was one intense freakin' movie. Completely character-driven, every performance crackles with tense energy, and you feel like anyone could just explode at any second. There's not one weak link here, and everything about this is totally engrossing from the start.
It doesn't shy away from shocking and disturbing you, and it doesn't let up even at the bitter end, even though you're praying it will. (I want to say, even though everyone was fantastic, I'm still impressed by Timberlake, who I didn't think would be any kind of good at all; however, he's fantastic in both this and Black Snake Moan, and even in the bizarre Southland Tales,he plays his part quite well.
Kudos to him.).
