Based on a true story, the story is about Johnny Truelove played by Emile Hirsch who has built a career of himself selling drugs with the help of his father played by Bruce Willis. He has his own crew including Elvis played by Shawn Hatosy, Frankie played by Justin Timberlake and Tiko played by Fernando Vargas.

When Jake played by Ben Foster fails to pay Johnny for his drug debt, they get into a fight causing Johnny and his crew to kidnap Jake's half-brother Zack played by Anton Yelchin who is aged 15 at the time.

Jake promises his biological father Butch and his stepmother Olivia played by David Thornton and Sharon Stone to find Zack while Johnny and Frankie who are unsure try to set everything under control with Zack.

Frankie has an idea for Johnny which is to introduce Zack to grown-up partying, have fun and finally send him home without any arguments but Elvis takes a different turn which gets the whole crew into a lot of trouble.

It's all historically accurate except that none of the characters are named after their real-life counterpart so if you're going to nitpick that, I advise not to. The film gives exploitative imagery and strong performances from a huge cast and puts a lot of great effort into it's writing and directing.

I love how everyone looks and acts as if the film takes place in the late 1990s like it should and the streets and town gives it all away plus the actors don't even care that it's being filmed in modern time at that time.

That's a fucking good movie. Alpha Dog gets a 10/10.
