Review of Alpha and Omega (2010) by Jazzmin M — 29 Aug 2015
I actually loved this film when it came out. Now that I'm older I realize that it's bad. First of all, the two main characters are so freakin' been-done. It wouldn't be much of a problem if they weren't the main characters.
They're so one-dimensional. Kate is the serious one and Humphrey's the fun one...that's it. They're okay, but there's nothing really interesting about them. The animation and visuals are nothing great or even that good.
I know Lionsgate doesn't do animated films that much, but seriously. It's not god awful as there are some neat things to look at, but this film came out in 2010, when How to Train Your Dragon, Tangled and Toy Story 3 came out.
Those films are much more visually appealing than this. The story it sooo dull and predictable. Again, it doesn't help that the lead characters are not that interesting. The story borrows the stampede scene from The Lion King, and it has sexual innuendos.
The comedy is forgettable. One would say that it's just a kids' film, but what many animated films have succeeded in doing is being well-liked by both children and adults. Animation is not just a kids' medium.
This film seems to only pander to kids and not have many things for adults to enjoy. In fact, who professionally makes films? Adults. On the positive side, the voice acting is pretty decent and the character of Lily is enjoyable.
Lots of people seem to like this film and that's perfectly fine. Like what you like. But for most who want a bit more imagination and effort, Alpha and Omega is a definite skip.
