Review of Along Came a Spider (1970) by John R — 11 Apr 2010
This film is truly one of my favorite titles that a movie has been given and yet it was easily not one of my favorite movies. The movie is based on a best-selling book from James Patterson, so I don't think the fault was in the source material.
For me, I just didn't respond to the actors well in this one. Freeman is solid in this type of role (Kiss the Girls, Se7en), but I just didn't buy the other performances all that much. I didn't find the villain(s) all that vicious and diabolical.
Sure, they did violent things, but the persona and tone that's given off just wasn't enough for me personally. In conclusion, for me, not a horrible movies by any means, but a far cry from the upper echelon of the genre.
