Review of Alone in the Dark (1993) by Weston R — 17 Nov 2007
Once again I stand in awe of the absolute hatred that the internet community seems to have for Mr Uwe Boll. Again I did not play any of the "Alone in the dark"-franchise games and so I do not know what kind of a hatchet job he did on the franchise, but apart from the bad guys being somewhat reminiscent of the xenomorphs in the Aliens - franchise this movie is not really all that different from movies like Doom of Resident evil (which are also game based I might add) - and they all come with the bad acting and clichee lines we've come to expect from such endeavours - it's mildly amusing and the action will either make you laugh due to cheesiness or keep you somewhat amused - I think it's all really a matter of attitude - of course some people will claim that the resident evil movies are so much betterm or even Doom, but to me? Not so much.
.. it's not the crap some people would make it out to be, but then - it's nothing more than a way to mildly amuse yourself for an hour and a half - it might make you dumber - but I'd rather watch this movie than masturbate with a cheese grater.
