Review of Aloha (2015) by Ben V — 02 Jun 2015
First off, I respectfully disagree with most of the critics on this fun, innovative, & complex romantic comedy. The writing, acting, music, & acting was quite sophisticated. I loved every bit of subtext & silent conversations, & on top of it the message was wholesome in the midst of possible chaos--everything tied in at the end.
It's so nice to have something different for a Rom-Com, right? & who doesn't get convicted about the U.S. occupying HI afterward?
&, I have plenty of Stone-looking friends that are part Asian, come on now people. Calm down. She could totally be part Filipino-Hawaiian. Casting couldn't have done a better job. Cameron, you rock.
& my sunglasses-hat off to the art department. You had me at the delicate French twist on Stone & the Nam music.
