Review of Aloha (2015) by Donald M — 05 Jun 2015
I was really hopeful going in to see this movie. Bradley Cooper is usually great to watch. Emma Stone is cute and fun. John Krasinski is adorably goofy and Rachel McAdams always seems on point. This was a flop for all of them. I don't know if it was the script and they all just threw their hands up and went through the motions or if they were all in a big fight with each other. But this had to be one of each of their worst films. Stone and Cooper were not believable at all. Their relationship felt forced. And predictable. Krasinski's character could have been better. Why keep him silent throughout the entire film!
I appreciated the fact that they used locals for the native Hawaiians. Having lived there, I can appreciate some of the legends and stories that were told. Hawaii is a beautiful and interesting place. It deserves respect. I will say I don't understand why they are protesting the movie title. After speaking with my native Hawaiian friends they don't understand the protesting either.
