Review of Aloha (2015) by Maksim B — 14 Oct 2015
Painfully boring, messy and shallow, Aloha is probable career-low for its director Cameron Crowe, but also for its leading stars Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone. A story of a genius, but tainted by dark past contractor, corporate-military games, romance, repairing ex-relationships and probably half a dozen other elements, this romantic comedy is nothing but a total mess. With no coherent story, with nothing to intrigue and no chemistry between the leading actors, the only positive thing I could think of is the laid back Hawaiian feeling, the ecological feel-good message and the slick presence of Bill Murray.
In conclusion, Aloha is not only a financial bomb for its studio and its director, but also a movie that is not worth being seen in the theater even if you are on a data. For a couple looking for a home entertainment romantic comedy it could be considered bearable. Still, avoid it if possible.
