Review of Aloha (2015) by Al K — 21 Feb 2016
Aloha was way better than I expected it to be. It is however not what I would label a comedy (except for the male bonding scenes which are genuinely funny). It's social comment that is subtle, arty, dark and ironic.
It is also a bit looney, has a romance and is only kind-of entertaining, but it is very human and real. The first ten minutes or so is truly awful until you realise what it is that you are watching. It reminds me of Lost in Translation.
