Claudia Llosa did a wonderful job directing & writing this piece of masterpiece. I believe people dislike the idea of a mother who is negligent with her childs, that instead of supporting them and letting them learn of life, she makes them quit sports coz people don't like what they do or as they do it; or coz she blames them for her own sake (watch the film coz I won't explain that to you).

It never explains somehow where or who is the father of this kids (we only see the mother and we blame her for her actions but forget those kids weren't born by magic). By the other side, the grown up older child (performed by the incredible & brilliant/talented Cillian Murphy) lives his entire life in a trauma/paranoia thanks to many things that happen on his life (again, don't blame the mother of all the things this kid suffers please!).

Life is guilty of our traumas too (blame life ok?). HUMANS are not perfect and that is as simple as that can be. In short words, I recommend this movie to OPEN MIND people (if you somehow identify yourself with this movie, then you have a trauma yourself & may need help.

Talking to someone somehow relieves that pain believe me). So yes, 4 & a half stars for this INTELIGENT plus INSPIRING film. Help yourself, understand yourself and help those surrounding you. Believe me: helping helps you.
