Review of Almost Famous (2000) by Douglas W — 02 Mar 2012
One of the best written films of this generation. While I have never been a huge Cameron Crowe fan, his writing here was absolutely amazing. I also loved the relationship between young William and his mother, played wonderfully by Frances McDormand.
I was surprised to see Zooey Deschanel when I saw this film again well after her star was on the rise. She was just as beautiful then as she is now. Kate Hudson was great as Penny Lane but she pretty much plays the same character in every romantic comedy since 2000.
Her acting range topped out with this film. Although this was slow paced and the overall acting could have been much better, the story and the ending more than made up for it. Must see for all teens aspiring to be musicians or be close to musicians.
