Review of Almost Famous (2000) by Rhys E — 23 Mar 2012
Filed under "bought it, had in my movie stack for a long time and never watched it - instantly regretting it when I did". Cameron Crowe delights yet again with a semi-autobiographical tale of a young rock fan catapulted into writing for Rolling Stone magazine.
Trying to navigate the 70s rock scene, it's a coming of age tale that still stands out as one of the best films of the 2000s. Kate Hudson is superb as Penny Lane, the strangely hypnotic "band-aid".
The film's strength is making you wish that you were there yourself, taking the highs with the lows.
