Review of Almost Famous (2000) by Milly B — 23 Apr 2013
Almost Famous. I honestly do not know how to describe this movie. It was simply indescribable.
Let's start off with Cameron Crowe, the director and writer of the movie. This was believed to be semi-autobiographical based on his personal experiences as a teen reporter for Rolling Stone magazine. Now with real life experiences, everything in the movie just felt so real, so congratulations Cameron Crowe, with this film, you just proved to the world you are one of the best directors of today.
Next, Patrick Fugit. This guy he's a newcomer, he also has a funny last name. But God was he brilliant! He can properly express all his feelings, love, emotions, anger, interest, he was a genius this guy. He should be a top actor today, he really should be making lots of money and getting all the fame. This guy is talented actor everyone!
Now, Kate Hudson. Hmm.. She plays as Penny Lane, which was such a brilliant name to pick first of all. Ya, of course. She was brilliant in this film; playing the rebellious, drug-addict, beautiful girl - Penny Lane. I actually really liked her performance in this movie, she was amazing in the movie, but not in other movies. This is the only good Kate Hudson film everyone.
The star of the film is none other than Billy Crudup, who plays as Russell Hammond, a man based on Glenn Frey who reminds me a little bit of John Bonham and George Harrison. He was a rock star, drug user, loves groupies, say and do all kinds of crazy stuff. Billy Crudup did a marvelous job with the role of Russell Hammond, I liked his performance. In fact, I think I might have as well been a Stillwater fan from this movie because of Crudup's performance.
In conclusion, I think Almost Famous is a heartfelt, warm, lovely, sweet and also a rebellious, coming-of-age, crazy film that depicts the life of the 1970s.
