Review of Almost Famous (2000) by Quinn B — 15 Jun 2011
Almost Famous is truly a film that intends to be its own. It is such a memorable film, that I definitely will never forget! I personally think this is Cameron Crowe's masterpiece.
Almost Famous follows William Miller, a boy who has been brought up by a over protective mom(played by Frances Mcdormand). His mom wants him to be a lawyer, but what William really wants to do, is to be a rock journalist, the one thing his mom doesn't approve on. After seeking advice along the way from Lester Bangs(Phillip Seymour Hoffman) another critic/journalist. He finally gets a job from Rolling Stone! His job is to go on tour with a band called Stillwater, and get a 1 on 1 interview with the "face" of the band, Russel Hammond. There's only one problem, he is 15! As he goes on tour with them, he realizes that rock and roll is completely different then what he expected. With drugs, parties and "band aid's", the life may be more than William wants.
Kate Hudson does an amazing job as "Penny Lane", who is the leader of the "band aids". And I think Billy Crudhup did an extraordinary job as Russel Hammond. As usual Frances Mcdormand does a great job as well, and I think 2 performances that kind of got overshadowed were, Patrick Fugit who played William, the main character, and Jason Lee who was the lead singer in Stillwater.
Other than that Almost Famous never dissapoint's. It is entertaining the whole way through. With amazing directing, great acting, and an incredible plot, Almost Famous is one of my favourite movie.
My rating is.
100%.
