Review of Almost Famous (2000) by Greg P — 04 Jul 2011
Almost Famous is a fantastic movie about a young man and the wild ride he goes on when writing an article about a rock band for Rolling Stone. The fact that this movie is very much writer/director Cameron Crowe's autobiography makes it even better in my mind.
The acting here is great. Patrick Fugit shows such innocence and curiosity as William Miller and Kate Hudson's Penny Lane is a character that the audience can fall in love with and root for. Billy Crudup and Jason Lee are great as the main members of the band Stillwater.
Also, I love Philip Seymour Hoffman here in his small but crucial role of Lester Bangs. Since this is a movie about music, the music is very important and it definitely doesn't disappoint. The music is so awesome in this movie and it fits the scenes so well, especially Tiny Dance in the scene on the bus.
Great movie that everyone should check out.
