Review of Almost Famous (2000) by Kevin R — 24 Aug 2012
Rock n' Roll can save the world.
A high school reporter gets the opportunity of a lifetime when a band lets him travel with him and write down the events he observes. Matters get even more exciting when the Rolling Stone asks him to write for them. The student takes the opportunity, falls in love, and grows up in the process.
"I'm about to boldly go where many men have gone before.".
Cameron Crowe, director of Elizabethtown, Vanilla Sky, Jerry Maguire, Say Anything, and Singles, delivers Almost Famous. The storyline for this picture is very entertaining but not quite as good as other pictures within this genre. The cast delivers solid performances and includes Billy Crudup, Kate Hudson, Jason Lee, and Anna Paquin.
"Please don't give him anymore acid.".
Almost Famous was a movie I came across while flicking through the channels and I had to watch it. I kind of felt guilty that I had not seen this movie. I did like it but did not think it was as good as Dazed and Confused or Boogie Nights. I do recommend seeing this picture but I wouldn't add it to your DVD collection.
"My last words were...I'm on drugs!".
Grade: B.
