Review of Alligator (1980) by Bill M — 27 Apr 2012
Alligator is one of the best killer animal films to come out in the wake of jaws, sure the croc looks like a theme park animatronic at best (although is well shot and cannily mixed with real croc on miniature set footage) but it's the sharp script, witty interplay and truly good performances that surprise, especially Robert Forsters very grounded, low key and unconventional weary badass, and it has some brilliantly satiric humor, including a wonderfully vicious jab at animal test lab's, and on top of that it is occasionally tense and scary with some very well orchestrated suspense scenes.
A gem.
