Review of Allied (2016) by Sam J — 27 Nov 2016
'Casablanca' is one of my favorite movies. What started out as a relevant and hopeful sequel in "Allied" ended up in disappointment. The storyline was unique and intriguing, but the gratuitous sex scene's were totally irrelevant to the flow of the movie, and the main character's lesbian sister was totally inconsequential to the story.
Further it attempted to portray open homosexuality as a normal cultural showing in the 1940's which it was not, by any standards. This is all unfortunate because it took away from a well developed plot line, good acting, terrific era costuming and set design.
It would be best for Robert Zemeckis to accurately portray the era he is showing then trying to rewrite it to a fantasy he wants to design.
