Review of Allied (2016) by Chris F — 29 Mar 2017
Critics can have a significant influence on an audience's opinion. Thank goodness I didn't read any of their reviews before watching the movie.
This was a good movie by my standard. I'm not an expert but I see a lot of movies, and Allied was definitely a breath of fresh air (there's been a few of those in 2016 though).
The strength of the movie was its accurate portrayal of the type of romance that two former spies would have had; not the textbook Hollywood romance. Marion 'kept the emotions really' and Brad complemented her performance. The movie outcome was binary so it was easy to make a good guess. If you are watching a movie about two spies who claim to be in love, then something must have gone terribly wrong for them. Yet, Allied managed to maintain the suspense because one just never really knew how terribly wrong things could have gone.
