Review of Allied (2016) by Alex T — 26 Nov 2016
One of those films where you leave feeling disheartened and disappointed. The characters are superficial. I never felt like I knew either character. The writing is lazy: the inclusion of Pitt's character's lesbian sister seemingly adds nothing to the story and it feels like an editing mistake.
It is also bizarre how a Canadian agent would bet sent on a British mission which shows how the script was rewritten quickly to fit Pitt in. I feel the film would have fared better with someone else. Pitt's French accent in also unconvincing and poor.
The plot jumps between scenes far too quickly, sometimes for no apparent reason, and its twists are predictable form the outset. The special effects were also lacking for what was billed as the Summer's 'Best Thriller'.
Overall I was highly disappointed with this film which promises so much on paper yet failed to deliver on the screen.
