Review of Allegro non troppo (1976) by The Critic ( — 03 Apr 2012
A bittersweet 'Fantasia' wannabe. The black and white live-action scenes are filled with an annoyingly talkative produced, an array of unlikable characters (with the exception of the cartoonist), and a series of unfunny gags.
On the flipside, the music is beautiful and most of the animated pieces are quite pretty; the bee trying to have a meal is cute, the spin on the Temptation of Adam and Eve is clever, and, above all, the sequence with a melancholic car, accompanied by Sibelius' 'Valse Triste', is outstanding.
