Review of Allegiant (2016) by Martina K — 02 Jun 2016
Ugh, this movie. I know Allegiant the book was the worst in the trilogy in my, and pretty much everyone else's opinions. That being said, I expected so much more from this movie. I was excited at first because I thought they weren't going to stretch the last movie into 2 parts like everyone else, but of course I was wrong.
Now I might not remember everything from the books, but almost everything in this movie made me go: wtf? I literally was laughing out loud during the movie and such cringeworthy awkward things. Like those cringeworthy blobs when they fare being transported, or the slime scene when they are being decontaminated, I laughed because they were so extremely awkward.
Also the script just sounded so terrible in my opinion. Tris: I'm going to steal your ship. David: .... *Tris proceeds to steal ship* like wtf?! It was so awkward. Caleb's bursts too, like "I'm scared" like you give him that line?! It felt so out of place and ugh.
The only thing keeping me from giving this below a 1 star was the acting. While I personally don't care for Shailene Woodly, I love Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort and despite their not so well crafted scripts, I loved their portrayal.
I also thought Four was a lot better to me than in the prior installments.
