Review of Allegiant (2016) by Dale S — 09 Sep 2016
It's actually got the best action scenes of the series and explains the whole faction thing in an interesting way that manages to retroactively improve the previous instalments, but in terms of narrative and cinematic technique, it's by turns predictable and nonsensical.
It also loses points for putting me in the unwelcome position of missing Jai Courtney. Kravitz is around more than last time, but still seems short-changed. Have Chris and Tris made up properly after their falling-out? If so, it's been glossed over.
DDK barely gets any screentime. Miles Teller is fine as usual, but why hasn't anyone shot Peter in his smug face yet? Watts, Spencer and Daniels are OK as the thinly-drawn grown-ups. The highly talented Woodley rises above as usual.
