Review of All the Real Girls (2003) by Clyde R — 01 Dec 2009
Director David Gordon Green best known for directing the 2008 high time flick Pinapple Express shows tremendous ability for handling subject of young people in relationships. The tone of the film is very realistic, but its also very slow paced much like reality.
being Zooey Deschanel fan I truely applaud her performance here, although it isnt showcasing her talent like in Manic or Winter Passing, she is playing her typical role very effectively. She is mature yet naive, but very idealistic and conflicted with many challenges throughout the movie.
The transition she goes through in the movie really resonates with the title of the film. Rest of cast are solid, I didnt particularly care for Paul Schneider's performance of a womanizer turned victim of his own behavior, nor did I really got into the best friend Tip's struggle with small town problems.
Danny Mcbride however did have small but memorable role playing bust-ass, the asshole friend of paul who eventually gets the girl, the gun show scene was absolutly hillarious.
