Review of All the Real Girls (2003) by Travis H — 16 Oct 2004
A simple, unique, and often beautiful film about young love. It's all wrapped together in a messy yet wonderful way, and in the end you know you've just witnessed something great on screen. The editing is one of the best parts, because the scenes all seem like snippets here and there of the story, and the over-lapping of sound and screen is terrific. Zooey Deschanel and Patricia Clarkson give very good performances, but frankly Paul Schneider got on my nerves. My only other complaint was the ending, and while I liked the unconventional touch, it was a bit unsatisfying. But overall, it's a film full of small and simple charms.
