Review of All the President's Men (1976) by Alex H — 09 Feb 2009
What a great story about the 2 journalists that 'broke' the Watergate scandal to the main stream press. It's actually more a look into life at a newspaper than Watergate, but the backdrop of their story was directed perfectly - so that it is completely gripping and dramatic.
Redford and Hoffman are, duh, AWESOME in this. But what keeps this great is that it was filmed very ala-indie style (by today's standards) in that there was minimal music, long silent sequenced, and long pull in shots that just are not 'allowed' anymore (i guess they think audiences are too dumb to handle it).
But this film illustrates how a slower pace DOES NOT mean you loose out on suspense. FABulous!!
