Review of All the President's Men (1976) by Dan B — 15 Oct 2009
The absurdly convoluted plot is exhausting and this would possibly be a slight criticism if it wasn't for the fact that it's all true! The tension and paranoia here is overtly tangible with the only light relief coming in the excellent chemistry between Hoffman and Redford who are both great, as are the rest of the supporting cast.
The Watergate scandal could hardly have been illuminated in a better fashion IMHO, my only criticism is that the ending was a bit sharp but other than that - great stuff. How old Dick Nixon never got banged up I'll never know.
