A truly gripping detective story despite the fact that about 70% of the movie involves men talking on the phone, it's over 2 1/2 hours long and almost everybody knows how it ends. There's a few reasons for this.
All of the central performances are strong. Alan J. Pakula was at the height of his directorial powers. The material is incredibly strong.
