Review of All the Money in the World (2017) by Lucas A — 15 Feb 2018
Amateur hour for Ridley Scott once agian, after the ridiculously bad Prometheus and Alien Covenant .
Italy is some sort of nightmarish mafia land, the Italians are portrayed as the villagers of an old Frankenstein movie, the Americans are the serious real people the local police clumsy and incompetent.
The movie is edited with a dragging uneven pace that leaves you cold caring nothing of the outcome of the kidnapping.
Whalberg is way out f his league here (against better actors), his pivotal role is weakened by his emotionless performance.
Plummer's character is outrageously rich and wont pay the ransom, once this is told the character becomes useless and it's given random stuff unessential to the plot to do (buys a painting, shows off a model for his new villa etc.).
Plot holes are everywhere, by the ending mafia men talk about how it's full of police everywhere, next thing they do is storm in a row of black cars into a small town central square and guess what? The cops catch them there.
Could go on and on. A mess (with good cinematography that is).-.
