Review of All That Heaven Allows (1955) by Magill F — 07 Jan 2009
What probably made middle-aged women in the fifties swoon is totally corny by today's standards. One can't help but laugh when Jane Wyman looks outside to see Rock Hudson feeding a deer. But that doesn't mean this is a bad film - even though a lot of this movie is unintentionally funny, I found it far more entertaining than a lot of the other melodramas I've seen (far from my preferred genre), and the colour design is gorgeous.
All in all, a decent watch. Give this an extra star if you like soap operas.
