Review of All Star Superman (2011) by Michael S — 01 Mar 2011

Though it's critically acclaimed, I was not a fan of the All-Star Superman limited series. While I loved the art and look of the series, I wasn't a fan of the story. So while the look and feel of this adaptation is terrific, to me, the story mostly falls short.

I addition, the comic series contained many stories, and for the most part, one per issue. This movie, though very loyal to the comics, uses quite a few of the stories. In a comic book, this works but having so many mostly unconnected stories in one movie left it flying all over the place.

Fans of the comic will enjoy this immensely and anyone familiar with it or Superman fan in general may enjoy it a bit. Anyone turning in for just a fun Superman movie will probably be left disappointed and scratching their head a bit.
