Review of All Relative (2014) by David L — 05 Sep 2015
A middle of the road tale where a boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, but girl says she just wants to be friends. Boy then sleeps with older woman, but girl changes mind about relationship and introduces him to parents.
Unsurprisingly, mother turns out to be the lady that boy had a one night stand with, so the remainder of the story is a case of will they or won't they admit to their past to ensure they can both pursue their own relationships with the truth and honesty they crave.
It's labelled as a romantic comedy, but other than the plot which is so far fetched that it becomes amusing, there is nothing wildly comical about anything else. It's very much easy viewing, but nothing to get over excited about, or roll about splitting your sides with laughter for, and despite its pleasant entertainment that it provided, I can see why it has gone under the radar before now.
It's the sort of movie I could see being more suited to a girls night in, whereby women of all ages can view it with the perception that all men are scumbags, or that they can be given hope by the fact that older females can still pull toy boys.
For the blokes, it's simply just a film that passes 90 minutes and won't be admitted to when asked if they have seen it. Can't say I have any desire to see this again, but it wasn't annoying enough to go out my way and do it a disservice.
