I have started to buy and watch best movies of the year with the goal of watching each and studying the cultural development over the years. There are lots of them beginning with Wings in 1927-28. All Quiet on the Western front was a powerful film although rather long and tedious at times.
The movie is an adaptation of the Erich Maria Remarque novel and follows a group of idealistic young German soldiers in the final days of the Great War.
