Review of All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) by Colleen C — 28 Dec 2009
The characterization is great in this film. It's sad but realistic to watch the boys become soldiers (and thus men) and then become disillusioned with the war itself and their places in it. The effects are amazing considering the technology available.
The fact that the movie is in black and white only serves to heighten the feelings of despair and hopelessness that the characters feel.
