Review of All Is Lost (2013) by Tom H — 08 May 2014
Another old man and the sea, brilliantly performed by Robert Redford. It's a very daring movie with hardly any spoken words but an interesting pace. The old man's infuriatingly slow but deliberate action is contrasted with the film's sometimes abrupt time jumps.
This gave me a permanent feeling of unease throughout. Some of the events are predictable to the point of being hackneyed, yet, the internal monolog makes up for it. The ending? Well, Hollywood... Bottom line: Grand, if unusual, cinema.
