Review of All Is Lost (2013) by Ruben_13 — 12 Feb 2015
'All is lost' starts with the apology of a man (Robert Redford) who admits he has tried - to be true, to be strong, to be right, to love - but failed. He fought till the end, he says. The movie shows his struggle.
Man versus nature. We see a man who probably didn't care much about others during his life. He lived the life he wanted to live, he wrote the rules. Now we see him in a situation where he has to bow for his superior.
He is being played with. Redford proves he still got it. His performance is down to the bone, and at the same time he refuses to give in to sentimentality. A must see.
