It leaves a lot of unanswered questions, but then again, it's based on an unsolved murder mystery.
The last 45 minutes of the movie takes a turn for the completely disturbing, but Ryan Gosling's performance is extremely convincing, and the overall story is so morbidly interesting that I can almost guarantee you'll spend an hour on Google researching the real story. (I know I did!).
