I just don't know what to make of this. I didn't hate it but I didn't like it. It was somewhere in the middle. I wonder if they had never moved back to the city would he have gone so over the edge? Was it just being around his father that made him that way? We just didn't really learn much about Ryan Gosling's character besides seeing his mother dead.

Does everyone who sees a loved one dead at the scene have such problems? Is it because the dad didn't make up for the death of the mother emotionally? Probably but I'm just not sure about this movie.
